The University Of Wisconsin System's 403(b) Plan

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

It's a good thing that these employees have had other 403(b)investment providers besides the Wisconsin Retirement System. The Wisconsin Retirement System was the first (1958) public employee retirement system in the nation to offer a variable annuity (a single common stock fund) as an investment medium under its primary retirement benefit program. Due to the stock market/economic debacle of the 1970s its doors were closed in 1980 to future contributions. The doors remained closed until 2000 when they were reopened for new business. TALK ABOUT POOR TIMING!!! This variable annuity still consists of just one investment option...a common stock fund.

Peace and hope,

Joel L. Frank
