We have an existing 457b plan, and I am checking to see if it needs to be amended for the new 409a regulations.

The way I read it, 409A(d)(1) and (d)(2)(B) exempt 457(b) plans from 409A. This does not mean you shouldn't look at 409A, because any failure of a 457(b) makes it subject to 457(f) AND 409A. It just means the review is harder.
