Is A 457(b) Plan Considered A Employer Retirement Plan?

Recommended Posts

I have a 457(b) at the governmental hospital where I work. My contributions are recorded on box 12 of my W2. My mAGI is above $169,000. Can I make deductible contributions to an IRA or is the 457(b) considered an employer retirement plan and then I would be subject to the income limits as to the deductibility of my contributions?

You need to review IRS 1040 instructions P 30-31 to determine your eligibility for the IRA deduction.
