Aspire

Recommended Posts

It looks like my school system got it right adding ASPIRE. Although they failed to inform anyone that you could self direct and save big bucks. I'm not sure they even knew!!

I've been on the phone with ASPIRE a few times and they have been very helpful. I will pay only .15 over the expense ratio of any of the below funds. I think that is darn reasonable considering what others are charging us in 403B. I highly recommend them. I'm getting ready to turn in my Salary Reduction Agreement to my school board. If they can get it through their heads that I don't need an advisorthen I'm good to go. My particular plan restricts us to the funds below but I can't complain with the choices

My Question: I'm going to put 100% in Total Bond Index but The TRowe Price High Yield fund looks enticing alhough I am aware its more risky and more expensive. Does it make sense to add maybe 10% to this fund?

High Yield would be a good diversifier for the bond portion of your portfolio. If I remember correctly, Total Bond Fund does not include high yield bonds.

Another good diversifier to consider is the Vanguard REIT fund.
